When it comes to implants underneath the dentures, you have options. There are two really different types of things you can do underneath of your denture. If you have adequate bone, what we recommend is a full-size implant. With the full-size implant goes on one side and on the other side, right here in your canine areas. Then we lock down that denture onto those full-size implants.
The problem is some people don't have enough bone. They only have enough bone right in the very front, but not enough bone for a full-size implant. That's where mini-implants come in. They're just smaller implants, smaller diameter. So instead of doing two, we usually do three or four implants into that smaller bony area.
It's not the perfect option, but for a person that doesn't have enough bone, it provides them an option to get implants in, and have a denture that is retentive to their lower and doesn't move around. In other words, get rid of the adhesive, and put in the implants. Great option for patients.

The Many Benefits of Mini Dental Implants
Dental implants offer many advantages over other tooth replacement options because they:
- Help you maintain your youthful look because they replace your natural tooth roots and prevent jawbone deterioration
- Function, look, and feel like your natural teeth
- Provide better chewing power than other restorative dentistry options
- Can last a lifetime with gentle chewing and good oral hygiene
- Do not require any preparation of healthy teeth surrounding your damaged or missing teeth
Mini dental implants also offer all of these benefits with the added bonus that they do not require as much density in your jaw to be a good candidate!
To ensure your treatment is as precise and pleasant as possible, we will carefully plan your procedure using advanced dental technology. We can also relieve your dental anxiety with dental sedation options.
If your jaw is too thin or weak to support standard or mini dental implants, we may be able to strengthen your jaw with a bone graft or ridge augmentation.
